Andy D

It was here, that Andy met a young lad called Dan. Dan introduced him to all manner of new things musically, from quirky sounding beats, to the genres of electro of breakbeat. Andy returned the favour by introducing Dan to the sound of techno.

Their mutual interest in music and growing friendship saw them enter the studio to work on projects together, writing and producing material under the name of Porno Breaks. College allowed them to finely tune their skill set and sound, the real world allowed them to release their material.

Porno Breaks saw a slue of material hit the record shop shelves with releases on Fat! (HashEater) SIC (Trippin Me Out) Control Breaks (8 Girl Orgy) and Sinister (Wasted Youth remix) as well having the odd unofficial remix (X-press 2 – KILL 100 / Underworld – LENNE PENNY / Scissor Sisters – LAND OF 1000 WORDS) doing the rounds in clubland with DJs Andrew Weatherall, Ivan Smaghe, Justin Robertson and Laurent Garnier all championing the Porno Breaks sound.

Awash with the sound of breakbeat and with Porno Breaks getting such critical acclaim, Andy thought it was the right time to step back into the DJ arena.

Slowly he begun to experiment with the Porno Breaks sound using a set of decks, a couple of CDJs and the odd techno record.

Andy’s firm belief of “taking the clubber on a journey” not just playing one record after another or just “the” one genre, saw him cropping up at club nights up and down the country.

His attitude and approach to music appealed to the audience who wanted to a hear a DJ with that little bit extra to offer. Playing alongside and supporting Paul Woolford, Miss Kitten, Darren Emerson, Dave Angel, Jeff Mills, Colin Dale, DJ Largo, Kid AM, Steve Lawler, PMT, Soul of Man, Trentmoller, Steve Angello, Nick Thayer, Paul Arnold, Precision Cuts, Nick Fanciulli it all got a hedonistic for Andy, and eventually resulted in a chance residency on the world famous Ministry of Sound radio station.

Over 3 years later and Andy is still there today, with his show being moved from a Friday to a Saturday, to a Friday and then back to a Saturday, being given his favourite 4am slot to call home. His deep, techy, glitchy, druggy, minimal, beat driven, proggy,
