BIOGRAPHY

I began making visuals through my events lighting company, Atmospherics Ltd.

Having discovered the limitations (and joys) of industry standard lights I wanted to be able to offer something different, beautiful and bespoke to manipulate venues with ‘moving wallpapers’ which would work tonally with the installed lights around them. Initial events included Jade Jagger’s Jezebel World Launch, Le Tousseroc Resort relaunch at The Hempel Hotel, Links Of London press launches, the Showoff exhibition at The County Hall Gallery as well as television work for On Demand TV, Channel 4 and NTL.

I created The Nearly Really Rude Show at the end of 2006; a show dedicated to the art of pole dancing. The performers themselves became the projection screens. Initially I used generic lights from a multitude of angles but realised the potential of developing my own designs to ‘clothe’ the dancers. I began using live visuals to give it a more organic feel.

My visual style leans in the direction of graphic, bold, simple artwork which ‘moulds’ around the bodies of the performers; accentuating their skill, dexterity and sensuality. The production had it’s first public showing at the MTV European Music Awards in Copenhagen, with 2 performances at Fabric in 2009, television and film work as well as  my own club nights, where I got to perform it to music of my own choice. The show was described by The Sunday Times journalist Steve Armstrong as "a sensual intimate Cirque Du Soleil driven by the slashing lights and pulsing beats of an illicit Kings Cross after party”

Towards the end of 2008, I formed The Dex Addicts; a collaboration with a DJ/friend (Maddox London) who I felt best interpreted my visual art with music. As well as back projected screen production, and multi screen installations,I began to turn the projections on him in an attempt to heighten the importance of the DJ booth, which often seemed overlooked in club production.

In the space of 18 months I have worked alongside many of the industries new faces and legends including Marco Carola, Reset Robot, Michel Cleis, Will Saul, Joy Orbison, Redshape, Mr C, Theo Parrish, DJ T, Osunlade, CJ Mackintosh, Billy Nasty, Solomun, Inxec, Argenis Brito, Gavin Herlihy, Clive Henry and Matthias Tanzmann. I also held a weekly residency at Jaded when it moved to it’s new home Cable in London Bridge, and been responsible for lighting, visuals and production at the launch (and subsequent

events) of Hybrid Life; an online magazine dedicated to the culture of dance music.

A full production with Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, where I was asked to manipulate the art of Peter Harris for his show @ The Tabernacle in 2009, has been amongst my treasured memories to date.
